Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park

Phong Nha Ke Bang, which spreads on an area of 123,326 hectares, was subjected to serious exploration in the 1990s, carried out by Hanoi University and British Cave Research Association. Since then more and more riches have been discovered and keep amazing explorers from all over the world. Phong Nha Ke Bang possesses collections of glamorous terrace, dry caves, stunning crystal-edged stalactites and grandiose stalagmites. The diversified terrains of Phong Nha-Ke Bang can be traced back to the karst formation process caused by massive tectonic changes in the Palaeozoic period.
Primeval tropical evergreen jungle and primary forest, which cover a mountainous area of 885 km2, are other attractions of the national park. Above 150 mammal species such as saola (a rare Asian antelope), elephants, primates and tigers, 300 bird species and 117 reptile and 58 amphibian species are found and recorded in the forest here.

Phong Nha Ke Bang is located in Bo Trach and Minh Hoa District, Quang BinhProvince, about 500km in the south of Hanoi. You can travel independently by motorbike or car on Ho Chi Minh Highway or Highway No. 20 cutting through the park and passing some wondrous sights including turquoise river, eco trail of Nuoc Mooc and Paradise Cave.
