The waterfall lies on Cam Ly stream. It is over 30m in height and about 15m in width. The flow of water is so strong that creates a mass of small bubbles and froth. Elephant waterfall flowing through granite mountain sides creates a majestic and romantic scene. Moreover, the rainbow will often appear when the brilliant sunlight illuminates the waterfall. Around the fall, tourists can see the primitive forests with the mysterious caves and the ancient trees. Gio (wind) cave is situated next to the waterfall. The path to enter the cave is narrowed by two cliffs, but the space inside the cave is so spacious and full of wind.
According to the locals, the name “Elephant waterfall” comes from a legend. Once upon a time, Ms. Biang, a beautiful daughter of Sre chieftain, was loved so much by wild animals. When hearing that Ms. Biang was going to marry Mr. Lang – a good chieftain of Lach tribe, the whole flock of elephant was so happy. They quickly came to attend the wedding. Unfortunately, when arriving to the current Elephant waterfall, they heard that Ms. Biang and Mr. Lang had died before they got married. Those elephants cried and screamed a lot. After a few days, they died and fossilized at the foot of the waterfall. Because of missing the elephants, The God of Langbiang Moutain cried a lot so many days. His tear mixed with the stream to console dead elephants. Since then, this place has had the name “Elephant waterfall”.
